Athletic News

photo of Mr. Mancini, Kevin Hanson & Coach Eric WilsonA record breaking season for Kevin Hanson

February 24, 2009 was a big night for FFCS senior Kevin Hanson. With just 2:35 left in the Braves' first round sectional game against Mechanicville, Kevin drained a three-pointer from the top of the key and entered into Fonda-Fultonville sports history. That three raised his career scoring total to 1240 points.  Kevin's new mark eclipsed the 34-year old record of 1239 set by FFCS Athletic Director Alex Mancini in 1975. Over the remaining two games, Kevin added another 25 points bringing his total to 1265—and if history is any indication, that record might be around for a long while.

Season ends for boys and girls hoops

Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls basketball teams saw their seasons end as each fell in Class B matchups.

The Braves lost their semi-final game to area rival Broadalbin-Perth 46-41 at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Wednesday, March 4. Brandon Mercato scored 17 and Kevin Hanson hit for 12. The boys wrapped up their season as WAC Champions with a 12-0 conference record and 19-4 overall.

The Lady Braves dropped a tough quarterfinal game to No. 7 seed Hudson Falls 50-45 in Fonda on Friday, February 27. Paula Egelston led the Lady Braves with 21 points and Amanda Baker added 16. The ladies finished with a record of 15-0 as WAC Champions and were 20-2 overall.

Congratulations teams on a thrilling basketball season!
