Two wresters
break 100-win mark
December 12, 2009 was a big day for Fonda-Fultonville wrestlers Kody Shaw (119-pound) and
Erik Franklin (171-pound). Competing in the Columbia Duals meet
against some of the top talent in the Capital District, the
two Braves both picked up their 100th varsity career
wrestling win.
In a sport where 100 wins is a major milestone, Kody's and
Erik's accomplishment was made even more amazing considering
that they achieved the mark on the same day and the fact that
Kody is just a sophomore and Erik is only a junior.
Both grapplers began wrestling at the varsity level in seventh
grade. And both wrestled in the 96-pound weight class.
"But I guess Erik grew a lot faster than I did," laughed Kody.
Since the December tournament, they have continued their winning
ways. Erik is 27-5 and Kody is 26-6 as of January 15.
Congratulations!
