Two earn pool certification
Fonda-Fultonville Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Terry
Bieniek and maintenance worker Stanley Fox recently attended a
two-day workshop and passed a required exam to become Certified
Pool Operators. The NYS Department of Health requires all public
pools to have a CPO on staff to ensure the safety of everyone
using the facility.
The training covered topics such as water quality maintenance,
chemical storage, use, and handling, safety equipment, proper
signage, and overall pool operation. This is the first time
Fonda-Fultonville has had two CPOs on staff.
The pool is in used steadily throughout the day for swim lessons
as part of the school's physical education curriculum as well as
for swim team practices and competitions, and community swim
events.
"Having two Certified Pool Operators in our building means that
our students and community members can be doubly confident that
our pool is safe," said District Superintendent Dr. James
Hoffman.
