Grading

Most large pieces of writing or projects are graded with either a Regents rubric or a rubric created specifically for that piece or project. Rubrics for non-Regents pieces and projects are created directly from the directions.

Each student's average is broken down in the following way:

Homework - 25%
Quizzes - 30%
Tests/Projects - 30%
Participation - 5%

Because each category is weighted differently, it is important that students complete all work to make sure that no one category negatively impacts the entire average. Participation is not only graded by speaking in class, but also homework completion and group participation. If you have questions about grading, please contact me.
