Student Policies: 
1.      Every student must test in this course with 70% or better.
2.      Each student must maintain respect for others and themselves. Profanity is prohibited.
3.      Each student must be ready, on time to class and with appropriate materials.
4.      Each student must follow directions and work must be neat and complete. 
 
Materials:
·        2" 3-ring binder with dividers, a loose-leaf paper,  pen or pencil
·        A textbook will be provided that must be covered to limit wear & returned at year’s end. 
 
6.      Attendance and class time is so important so it is taken daily and participation credit affects student’s grades.
7.      Homework prepares students for class discussion & note taking and is part of the quarterly grade.
8.      Assignment Responsibilities:
·        Assignments must be turned in on time.  One day late 50%, 2 days a zero 
·        Students that miss class are responsible to get assignments and make up work.
·        Students that receive a grade below a 70 are required to come in on their own time to get extra help to improve their grades.
·        Students need to legibly label their work and use legible penmanship. 
·        Students that accrue more than 36 illegal absences will not be given class credit for the course. Be sure to always bring in an excuse signed by a parent on return to school.
 
Teacher Policies:
 
1.      I will provide clear rules for students to follow regarding grading, participation and attendance.
2.      Students with a test grade below a 70-score can improve grades by attending out of class study lessons during and after school by appointments.

4.      I will contact parents, guardians and principle if grades or behavior deem necessary.
 
Classroom Policies:
 
Quarterly Grading:
·        Exams, projects, reports and presentations will comprise 60% of quarter grades.
·        Quizzes, homework and class participation (attendance) will count for 40% of quarter grades. 
 
                   Final grade: 
·        The final grade will consist of the average of each ten-week grade, a midterm grade & the local final exam grade.
      1st 10 weeks +2nd 10 weeks + Midterm + 3rd 10 weeks + 4th 10 weeks + Local Exam = Final Grade
 
Important Dates:
Interim Reports will be issued the weeks of:
Oct. 3      Dec. 12     Mar. 13    May 22
 
Report Cards will be issued the weeks of:
Nov. 7th, Jan. 30th, April 9th, June 26th
 
Parent Conferences:
Sept. 25 – Open House     Nov. 24 & 25      Mar.  26 & 27
 
Global History and Geography Course Outline:
 
            This course focuses on the New York State and National standards, themes and concepts that require students to develop skills of historical analysis to investigate and interpret major ideas, events and themes of human history.   We will explore various perspectives that emphasize historical evidence and our understandings of change and continuity over time for individuals and groups.  We will analyze human and physical geography, the movements of people and their goods, environments and societies, cultural interdependence, economic and political systems, technology, human needs and wants as well as justice and citizenship.  It is important to understand these forces affecting our past, present and future as our community expands globally.

·        Unit 4 Emergence and Spread of Belief Systems
·        Unit 5 The Gupta Empire in India
