National Junior Honor Society Advisor: Anne Cassidy
The Arthur C. White Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society was formed
17 years ago. To be eligible for membership consideration, students must have a cumulative average of 90 percent or higher in both sixth and seventh grade. Students are eligible after completing seventh grade. Both the Tapping and Induction Ceremonies take place in the fall of the student’s eighth grade year. Additionally, potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service, character and citizenship.
The objectives of the National Junior Honor Society are to serve our school and community, as well as raising money
for a trip. During the school year, members inducted into this society help out with Teen Times
and hold a variety of fund-raisers including selling Avon products. National Junior Honor Society
members have also been involved in electing officers, “Valentines for Veterans,” and helping with
Parent Conference nights.

Spanish
Club The Spanish Club is open to
all students interested in learning this foreign language, while
also developing an appreciation of Hispanic cultures. Meetings
are held on the first Tuesday of every month. Previous
activities have included trips to an amusement park for students
who obtained an average of 80 percent or above, trips to Garcias
Mexican Restaurant in Albany and even a trip to Spain.
We are a service organization, so your membership in the Spanish
Club can be used to meet criteria for National Honor Society.
For more information, please contact Mrs. Elizabeth Spraker,
Spanish teacher in Room 41.

Student
Council
Advisors:
H.Thompson and K.Callery
Student Council is made up of elected representatives from
grades 5-8 in the Middle School. Our mission is to help create a
positive school environment and to plan activities that provide
all Middle School Student and the community the opportunity to
get involved and have pride in our school. We have around 55
students who actively participate. Our events are very popular
and well received by students and faculty alike. For example, we
plan a week of school spirit activities including a hat day
leading up to Homecoming. This year we celebrated our own
Modified athletes with a wall of fame. Our annual Thanksgiving
Food Drive is coming up in November, followed by our Christmas
Cheer Auction and Crossgates shopping trip in December. Our
second annual Winter Carnival is set for March 5, which is a
date change from the school calendar. It'll be bigger and better
from the school calendar. It'll be bigger and better than ever.
We'll round out our year with the 7th and 8th grade semi-formal
in the Spring. Along with the scheduled Teen Times, Student
Council is ready and excited to start a busy new year. Check out
our events and get involved! Go Braves!
