bond, library propositions approved by voters
Voters approved the $22.3
million district budget proposal Tuesday night, along with the
$2.5 million requisition to authorize emergency repairs to the
Fonda-Fultonville Elementary School. Voters also approved a
proposition to allocate $12,000 to the Frothingham Free Library
and $3,800 to the Fort Hunter Free Library.
Two incumbents, Timothy Wendell and John Wiltey were re-elected
to the Board of Education, as were newcomers Matthew Calkins and
Mark Blanchard. Blanchard, a write-in candidate, will complete
the term of Timothy Coons who recently moved out of the
district.
The $22.3 million budget
was approved by more than 150 votes, with 395 in favor, and 241
against.
The bond proposition
received the 60 percent supermajority vote that was needed for
approval, with 376 voting for, and 248 voting against the
proposal.
The library proposition,
which approved more than $15,000 in funding for the two local
libraries, passed by more than 300 votes, with 467 voting for
and 165 voting against it.
