FFCS students and staff "roll up their sleeves"
Students and staff stepped forward to donate their blood during
Fonda-Fultonville High School Student Government's annual spring
blood drive on Wednesday, March 14.
"This is the first drive of the year," explained Student Government
representative Ray Delaney. "We normally have two, but we had to
cancel the last one because of the whooping cough outbreak."
Everyone seemed determined to make up for the lost drive as a steady
stream of donors answered the American Red Cross's plea to "Help
Now; Give Blood."
"We've been almost too busy," said Red Cross Supervisor Brian
Gethner. "We have had so many volunteers that many have had to wait.
Customer service suffers a little."
Of the 54 donors, this was the first time donating
blood for 37 students. Senior Nicole Peeler admitted with a smile
that she was a little nervous as she prepared to give. Fifteen
minutes later she was still smiling having successfully given her
first pint.
